Ghanaian rapper Pope Skinny has put long-standing rumours to rest regarding an alleged romantic relationship with celebrated actress and media personality, Nana Ama McBrown.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, the rapper cleared up years of speculation fueled by gossip blogs and tabloids, firmly stating that there was never any romantic involvement between them.
Pope Skinny, reflecting on how the rumours started, shared that their connection began during an event in Tema several years ago.
He kicked off the show with an energetic freestyle performance, which quickly won over the crowd. McBrown, who was in the audience, was visibly impressed and, like many others, couldn’t help but join in the applause.
According to Pope Skinny, this was the very first time he and McBrown had ever met. Their initial encounter led to a natural exchange of contact information, and from there, they built a strong friendship. “I remember her enjoying the show and applauding, but that’s where it stopped. After that, we just became good friends,” he explained.
Despite this innocent start, rumours soon began to swirl, with various blogs and media outlets falsely reporting that the two were romantically involved.
Pope Skinny expressed his frustration at how the media took their friendship out of context, turning it into something it never was. “It’s sad how people easily twist simple situations into sensational stories,” he lamented.
Pope Skinny emphasized that while he and McBrown have maintained a solid friendship over the years, there was never anything more to it. “I want to be clear that there was no romance between us. We were—and still are—just friends,” he asserted.

In a world where public figures often find their personal lives under the microscope, Pope Skinny’s clarification serves as a reminder of how easily friendships can be misinterpreted. “It’s important for people to know the truth,” he added, “and to understand that just because two people get along well doesn’t mean there’s something going on behind the scenes.”
