DJ Azonto has disclosed the terms under which he would consider joining the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or perform at their rallies as the political climate intensifies in anticipation of the upcoming elections in December.
The artist, who recently announced his support for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), indicated that he could potentially change allegiance if the NDC presents a compelling offer.
During an interview on Hitz FM, he stated that he would require access to the Accra Sports Stadium and a private jet to become a member.
DJ Azonto emphasized that he is fundamentally a businessman and would align himself with the highest bidder in his chosen arena.
“I’m a businessman, and I’m open to offers. If the NDC can meet my demands, I don’t see why I wouldn’t support them,” DJ Azonto said with characteristic confidence. “But let me be clear, it has to be a private jet and the Accra Sports Stadium—nothing less.”
On the same platform, DJ Azonto stated that if he receives any performance opportunity from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), he would need to obtain permission from Dr Mahamudu Bawumia before accepting the engagement.
DJ Azonto emphasized that it was Dr Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who initially provided him with the opportunity to perform on a political platform, highlighting the benefits that have followed since that first chance.
