Ghanaian business mogul Dr. Daniel McKorley, popularly known as Dr. McDan, has shared the highs and lows of his entrepreneurial journey, revealing how he made his first million dollars at 28, only to lose it all a few years later.
Speaking to students at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) in Kumasi, Dr. McDan reflected on the lessons he learned from his early success and subsequent downfall.
“I made my first million dollars at 28 through hard work, persistence, and perseverance,” he stated. However, he admitted that his ambition to accumulate wealth quickly led to costly mistakes. By his early thirties, everything he had worked for was gone.
“I lost it all because of greed and the quest to make more within the shortest possible time,” he explained, stressing the dangers of rushing financial success.
Despite the setback, Dr. McDan refused to give up. He believes failure is an essential part of success. “Failure is a prerequisite to success,” he noted, encouraging the students to embrace challenges as learning opportunities.
Today, Dr. McDan is one of Ghana’s most successful entrepreneurs, leading the McDan Group of Companies. His story serves as a powerful lesson on resilience, strategic growth, and the importance of learning from mistakes.
