I Lost Everything to Gambling, But My Wife Saved Me – Kellyrae Opens Up

Kellyrae, the winner of the BBNaija “No Loose Guard” reality show, has always been admired for his charismatic presence on screen, but in a recent interview on Chude Jideonwo’s show, he revealed the raw, unfiltered side of his life—one filled with challenges, personal growth, and unwavering support from his wife, Kassia.

The journey to success hasn’t always been smooth for Kellyrae, as he admits that despite having money at one point, it never felt like enough.

He reflects on his struggles with gambling and how it took a toll on his mental health: “I had some money, but because I wanted more, the money was not enough.

“I was now gambling with it and then I lost all the money. I was depressed. Every night I would be awake thinking. Then she was the one who came to my rescue,” he shared, his voice heavy with the memories of those tough times.

Kellyrae’s relationship with Kassia wasn’t always easy, especially when he felt that he wasn’t living up to the expectations of being a provider.

“I was thinking one day, I called her and said let’s just break up, I feel I don’t have what it takes to really take care of you because I feel guilty most times that there are things I’m supposed to be doing,” he confesses.

The weight of his struggles with finances and self-doubt almost drove him to end the relationship, but Kassia remained steadfast, offering him the support he needed to keep pushing forward.

As the interview progressed, Kellyrae explained how his perspective on life had shifted, especially when it came to facing challenges.

“Even if you lay on your bed for the rest of your life, trouble will still come. I think I prefer the trouble that comes with N60 million,” he says with a smile, indicating that he now views adversity as part of the journey rather than an obstacle.

He also shared his thoughts on authenticity, noting that even as a public figure, the most important thing for him was to remain true to himself.

“The only thing I had to fake was that I was in the house with my wife, every other thing, I was just being myself,” he says, emphasizing that his success didn’t come by pretending to be someone else, but by embracing who he truly is.
