Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur D-Black has revealed the emotional toll he experienced following the tragic disappearance of his close friend and musical collaborator, Castro.
In a recent interview with Elsie Lamar on GhanaWeb’s Takertainment show, D-Black shared how the loss affected both his personal and professional life, leading him to take a hiatus from music.
“When Castro’s situation happened, I took a break from music because the most popular songs I had were with him; Seihor and Personal Person,” D-Black disclosed.
The two songs, which were massive hits in Ghana and beyond, featured Castro’s signature vocals, and their success had played a pivotal role in D-Black’s career.
However, when Castro tragically disappeared in 2014 after a jet-ski accident in Ada, D-Black found it difficult to perform those tracks.
“I didn’t feel comfortable going on stage to perform those songs either when they couldn’t find his body,” he added, explaining the deep connection he felt to the music they made together.
While discussing his nickname, “Enjoyment Minister,” D-Black explained that it emerged from his ventures in the hospitality and events industry.
Known for his entrepreneurial spirit, he has built a reputation for creating memorable experiences in Ghana’s nightlife scene.
“I started a nightclub and an events company, focusing on creating enjoyable experiences.
My friends dubbed me that because I was always hosting parties and having a good time,” D-Black said, elaborating on how his love for entertainment and business led to the catchy moniker.
