Chef Smith is still dominating the internet and entertainment news platforms.

The Ghanaian chef, who recently made headlines for declaring himself title holder of the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, shared with Serwaa Amihere in an exclusive interview the detailed process he went through with his scam.

During the interview, Chef Smith discussed every aspect of his cooking journey and how he surprised everyone by holding a press conference to declare himself the new cook-a-thon champion, succeeding Alan Fisher.

He mentioned that he visited the Guinness World Records website, where he found a template of the certificate given to winners of various record categories.

Chef Smith said he then downloaded and customized one of these certificates to match his achievement, which he later printed out.

When Serwaa Amihere pointed out the fraudulent nature of his actions, Chef Smith admitted his mistake and expressed deep regret for the embarrassment he caused to the people of Ghana.

On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith made headlines by hosting a press conference where he proudly declared that he had achieved the title of the longest individual cooking marathon per Guinness World Records (GWR) guidelines.

During the event, he displayed a plaque that he asserted was sent by the record scheme’s organizers, providing evidence to support his assertion.

Nevertheless, there were doubts raised about the authenticity of his claim due to the absence of any official announcement on the GWR website.

Many Ghanaians contended that since GWR had not officially recognized this accomplishment on their platform, Chef Smith’s assertion may be unfounded.

Amidst the uproar caused by this claim, TV3 Ghana, a subsidiary of Media General, reached out to GWR to verify Chef Smith’s statement.

In a message sent directly to TV3 through X, GWR confirmed that the current record holder for the longest individual cooking session is still Alan Fisher from Ireland.

GWR clarified that Chef Smith does not possess the title of the longest cooking marathon and has not been granted any official certificate.
