Actress and philanthropist Habiba Sinare shared the deeply personal reasons behind her divorce from ex-Black Stars striker Majeed Waris in an emotional interview with MzGee.
Reflecting on the painful end of their relationship, Sinare revealed that one particular moment still haunts her: “When I was leaving, he said he wouldn’t choose me over his family. That hurt me deeply.”
For Sinare, this statement struck a chord, making her realize that she didn’t feel like she was truly part of Waris’ family. “That sentence still echoes in my life,” she admitted, explaining how those words intensified her decision to walk away from the marriage.
“When you’re angry, you can say things that go too far. Sometimes you don’t mean them, but words are powerful. I’m someone who takes words seriously.”
She also spoke about her child, expressing that her son’s birth was meant to be: “I always say that my child was meant to come into the world. He asked me, ‘Why won’t you come back?’ I told him, ‘I’m done. There’s nothing left. I don’t feel anything for you anymore.'”
Sinare’s candid reflections offer a window into the challenges that led to her separation from Waris, emphasizing how hurtful words can leave lasting scars, even when not intended to do so.
Habiba Sinare and Majeed Waris tied the knot in April 2017 in a ceremony that attracted significant attention, as both were prominent figures in their respective fields.
Sinare is known for her work as an actress and model, while Waris gained fame as a professional footballer, having played for clubs in Europe and representing the Ghana national team.
