Nana Ama Mcbrown has shared with Bola Ray on Starr Chat that she has developed a resilient attitude towards the unwarranted criticism from online trolls.
She further expressed that she remains unfazed by the body shaming comments concerning her age, where some claim she is over 47 and merely uses makeup to conceal her true age.
In her conversation with Bola Ray, she elaborated on her approach to managing the ongoing trolling, stating that…
“I go through social media sometimes, I see some things on TikTok, Instagram, and more. I’ve seen a lot, but it doesn’t get to me. I’ve been in this job for 24 good years, and I’ve learned to ignore criticisms.
“Sometimes people say, Nana is old, she’s about 47, she’s lying. But I know they’ve missed their own calculation, not mine. I don’t care. I’ve stayed relevant, and that’s why they feel I’ve been around for long.”
“I remember when I was watching a mother bathe her child in a basin, and the child was attentive. Now, that child can afford a mobile phone and still sees me on TV. They feel like, Ah, life didn’t treat me well, but this woman is still my size. They don’t know I’m also taking care of myself.”
She added further, “If somebody was eight years old and watched me for 24 years, they’re now 32. They’ve grown, probably drinking beer, and still see me. They feel like, this woman is still doing well. But they don’t know the calculation.”
In conclsuion, “I don’t have any qualifications when it comes to acting, hosting, or anything I’m doing on TV. I learn on the job. I had the opportunity to work with a wise man who told me, we are not stars, we’re just ordinary people.”
