Nigerian music executive and record label owner, Don Jazzy has revealed that he has a policy of not allowing his artists to release songs on the same day as popular musicians like Wizkid or Asake.
In a podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo, he mentioned that it would be a ‘natural death’ for his artists to compete with such big names.
As a result, the Marvin Records boss said he has shifted their project release dates from Fridays to Wednesdays or Thursdays, as those days are less crowded with new releases.

Don Jazzy said: “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artiste dropping a song].
“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”
Don Jazzy’s artistes signed to his record label are; Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Lifesize Teddy, Bayanni and Rema, who is co-signed to D’Prince’s Jonzing Records.
