Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has risen to fame with his infectious music and street-smart persona.

However, behind the glitz and glam of his burgeoning career lies a story of resilience and relentless hustle.

The artist shared a heartfelt account of his struggles before achieving success in the music industry, offering fans a glimpse into the grit and determination that shaped his journey.

“I have been to the 36 states of Nigeria touring towns to eat,” Shallipopi revealed, underscoring the lengths he went to survive. “I nor know which part of Nigeria you come from, but u nor suppose dey talk to me about shame. Buckle up—this country nor dey laugh with anybody! Period!!!”

The candid confession paints a vivid picture of the sacrifices Shallipopi made while navigating life’s hardships. Long before his rise as one of Nigeria’s promising artists, he took on various labour-intensive jobs to make ends meet.

“I don do bricklayer, painter, we don work for workshop,” he said, his voice brimming with the weight of those memories. “I don do POP, I don do plastering work.”

For Shallipopi, survival often meant juggling multiple roles, each more physically demanding than the last. Yet, his passion for music remained a constant flame, even during the most challenging times.

“I don dey run commot house for night go club Jokers for Benin, go dey freestyle just to carry 5k reach house come give my mummy,” he recounted, highlighting his commitment to supporting his family while pursuing his dreams.
