Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Ghana’s Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, has addressed her apparent loss in the 2024 parliamentary elections with a defiant message that has sparked conversations across the country.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the outspoken politician made it clear she would not tolerate mockery or derision over the results.
“I won’t tolerate any disrespect,” she wrote. “This is not the first time someone has lost an election. Besides, I didn’t even want to win this year.”
The elections in Ablekuma West have been closely watched, as Owusu-Ekuful faced stiff competition from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Rev. Kwaku Addo, who has reportedly won in almost all the centres.
If confirmed, the victory would mark a significant shift in a constituency long considered a New Patriotic Party (NPP) stronghold.
For years, Owusu-Ekuful has been a formidable figure in Ghanaian politics, championing digital innovation and infrastructure development during her tenure as MP.
