Hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone has addressed growing online debates about his involvement with Jamaican dancehall icon Beenie Man, following claims made by Stonebwoy during a recent interview on 3Music TV.

The issue emerged after Stonebwoy asserted that he was the first Ghanaian artist to introduce several renowned Jamaican acts, including Beenie Man, to Ghana for musical collaborations.

This statement drew sharp reactions, with many pointing out that Reggie Rockstone had worked with Beenie Man decades earlier, at a time when Stonebwoy was still a schoolboy.

Social media buzzed with debates about Stonebwoy’s claim, with critics accusing him of overlooking historical contributions by veteran artists like Reggie Rockstone.

Amid the chatter, Reggie Rockstone released a video to clarify his role in Beenie Man’s visit and collaboration. Speaking candidly, he acknowledged the misunderstanding, explaining that he was not the first person to bring Beenie Man to Ghana.

“I didn’t bring Beenie Man to Ghana; he was already here. However, we crossed paths and, being opportunists of the moment, we decided to collaborate,” Reggie explained in the video.

He further detailed how their partnership evolved into something even bigger. “We combined our strengths and our respective fanbases and even brought in Nigeria’s Tuface to join the project. This wasn’t just about two artists—it was a Pan-African collaboration,” he noted with pride.

Reggie also shared an interesting tidbit about his creative legacy, stating that his collaboration with Beenie Man might have produced one of the first Afrobeats tracks of its kind.

“If there’s anything I can take credit for, it might be recording what could be considered an early Afrobeats tune with Beenie Man and Tuface,” he added.
