Ghanaian actress, movie producer, and celebrated TV show host, Nana Ama McBrown, has opened up about one of the most emotional chapters of her life—her first heartbreak.
Sharing her story with raw honesty, McBrown painted a picture of youthful love, familial advice, and the painful consequences of not heeding wisdom.
“I dated this handsome guy in Kumasi when I was in my 20s,” she revealed during an interview. At the time, McBrown was living with her grandmother, who played a pivotal role in her upbringing.
Her grandmother, always a wellspring of guidance, cautioned against the relationship. “She told me he wasn’t going to take me anywhere, but I didn’t heed her advice,” McBrown admitted with a wistful smile, reflecting on her younger self’s determination to follow her heart.

“When he broke up with me, I almost went mad,” she confessed, her words a poignant reminder of how deeply love can cut, especially when it’s your first experience of heartbreak.
