I can’t beef Amakye Dede- Kuame Eugene finally reacts to ‘Highlife King’ fiasco

Kuame Eugene has mentioned that he holds no grievances against Amakye Dede regarding the Highlife King title he previously awarded, only to later claim he felt compelled to do so, a surprising statement that reverberated throughout Ghana’s entertainment industry.

In a recent interview on Anidaso FM, Kuame Eugene affirmed his enduring love and respect for Amakye Dede, emphasizing that his earlier remarks have not tarnished their relationship.

He highlighted the importance of respecting elders within their cultural framework, asserting that he could never undermine this principle.

Eugene further acknowledged that Amakye Dede’s seniority makes it impossible for him to act disrespectfully.

“Amakye Dede is Amakye Dede and I will love him for the rest of my life. He has made a very good impact on the music industry. I can say that there is no bad blood between us. He is an elderly man, I can’t beef with him or question him,” he said.

What happened?

Amakye Dede crowning Kuame Eugene at the TGMAs in 2019

In June last year, Amakye Dede absolved himself of all the blame shrouding his controversial crowning of Lynx Entertainment star Kuame Eugene as the Highlife King at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, now Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

Apportioning the blame to Kiki Banson, Amakye Dede revealed in a fresh interview that it was actually Becca’s former manager and a member of the TGMA board,  who forced him to make the unorthodox coronation.

“Though I did that, it was not my will to do so. They forced me to crown Kuami Eugene. I even gave the crown they handed over to me to someone to put it down, but they later said, no I have to crown him, and I did it,” he said. Amakye Dede disclosed in an interview on Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday.

However, the Charter House organizers have refuted the claims and dared Amakye Dede to identify and shame the perpetrator. Amakye Dede revealed the person who forced him to give the crown to Kuami Eugene in an exclusive interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM’s drive show “Ekwanso Dwoodwoo”

He said; “I’m telling you straight that it was Kiki who forced me. When he even gave it (the crown) to me, I handed it over to a boy who accompanies me called Rubberman to put it down. In fact, they forced me to do it. If they like, they should call Kiki to find out from him”, he reiterated.

The legendary musician also furiously asked; “Why should they do this thing to me?”
