After successfully featuring top Nollywood actors in A Country Called Ghana, Kumawood actor and producer Lilwin is setting his sights even higher.
His next movie, A Journey to Africa, aims to bring Hollywood stars to Ghana, but according to him, financial support will determine whether the dream becomes a reality.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Lilwin acknowledged that some people might mock his ambition, but he remains confident in his abilities.
“I know some people will ridicule my ambition, but I know my abilities. I know that if I get private or government funding, I can get Hollywood actors to star in my next production titled, A Journey to Africa.”
Lilwin’s vision is part of a growing movement to elevate the Ghanaian film industry onto the global stage.
Over the years, Ghana has witnessed increasing collaborations between its filmmakers and international stars, with Nigerian actors frequently crossing over into Kumawood and Ghallywood productions.
However, breaking into Hollywood is an entirely different challenge—one that requires not just talent but significant financial backing.

The actor-turned-producer made a direct appeal to the government and private investors, emphasizing that financial constraints remain the biggest obstacle. “I want to see the industry grow and also remain relevant, which is why I’m appealing to the government and individual investors for support.”
His previous film, A Country Called Ghana, gained attention for bridging the gap between Ghanaian and Nigerian cinema.
With names like Ramsey Nouah and Charles Awurum featuring in the project, Lilwin proved that he could attract big names from the African film industry.
Now, he believes the same can be done with Hollywood actors, provided he secures the necessary funding.
“As you can see, everything depends on money. If I have the money, no actor from anywhere will turn down my offer. Unfortunately, I don’t have that kind of funds.”
Lilwin’s ambitions align with a broader push to put Ghanaian cinema on the global map. In recent years, filmmakers from the country have worked tirelessly to gain international recognition, with movies like Beasts of No Nation and The Burial of Kojo receiving critical acclaim beyond Ghana’s borders.
If A Journey to Africa successfully attracts Hollywood stars, it could mark a major milestone for the local industry.
