Reggae artist and radio personality Blakk Rasta has opened up about his initial motivation for joining radio, revealing that his shyness played a key role in his decision.
In an interview with Agyemang on Power FM, which also streamed live on TV XYZ, Blakk Rasta, whose real name is, Abubakar Ahmed, confessed that he hoped radio would help him overcome his introverted nature and, more specifically, chase after girls.
“There was a campus radio that came up, and I went to audition. In fact, the secret basically was that I am an extremely shy person,” Blakk Rasta admitted.
“You see, all along in this interview, I haven’t looked at you in the face. I am extremely shy, so I felt that going on radio would bring me some friends, especially female ones.”
His plan was simple: get on air, make some noise, and let his personality shine, believing that it would naturally attract attention from women.
“My mind was that, go on radio, make noise, show what you have, then ladies normally get attracted to (good radio personalities), but it didn’t work out,” he laughed.
Though his original plan didn’t quite pan out, Blakk Rasta’s journey into radio has become an important part of his career and public life, as he’s now a well-known voice on airwaves across the country.
