Sarkodie recently discussed how getting this opportunity helped launch his music career to new heights in an interview with CNN Africa.

Essentially the Ghanaian rapper has previously stated that Bob Marley’s “Stir it Up” remix is one of the biggest projects he has ever worked on in his whole music career. He compared the way he holds the rap crown in Ghana to how people in Ghana relate reggae to Bob Marley.

“People actually think Bob Marley invented reggae. Because when you think about reggae, that’s all you think about – Bob Marley. That’s the benchmark, or whatever… that the guys use. And that’s the same thing when it comes to rap with Sarkodie.

Back in Ghana, in every conversation, I’ve been drawn in for no reason. That’s like the person they use. That’s what I mean by rap, I’m like Bob Marley,”

Then again he said he was surprised when he was called upon to give his verse on Bob Marley’s song.

Similarly, while the Sarkodie-Bob Marley feature continues to dominate the discourse on the Ghanaian landscape of the internet, Highlife singer Bisa Bisa Kdei has added his voice.

The Mansa hitmaker opined that Bob Marley will be extremely grateful and spin joyfully in his grave over the feature. In a recent interview on Rainbow Rainbow, Kdei said there’s nothing wrong with the historic collab as expressed by naysayers of the Ghanaian rapper.

“I believe it is lovely. It is a lovely thing. If someone asked me to be on a Michael Jackson song, I would be honoured. I’d feel really honoured. It is a lovely thing,” he argued.

He referred to the late Bob Marley as a legend that everyone continues to listen to today despite his death several decades ago.
