I Am Disappointed In Esther Smith – Mr. Logic

Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr. Logic, a regular panellist on UTV’s United Showbiz, expressed his disappointment towards Esther Smith for ending her successful career and moving to Australia.

During a recent episode of the show, where Ghanaians were debating the best Ghanaian gospel artistes of all time, Mr. Logic stated that Esther Smith deserves the title but it saddens him that she had to leave Ghana and cut short her career.

Tru News Report monitored the programme and heard Mr Logic saying:

“I am so disappointed in that woman. I am so disappointed in Esther Smith. I am so disappointed in Esther Smith. Whether it is marriage, a man, or whatever caused her to stop singing in the mainstream, I am telling her that some of us are disappointed. I am so disappointed to an extent; I wish I could say it to her face.

“There are some gospel singers, their songs and presence have changed the scene and she is one of them. Her songs were hits. The voice, composition, melody, and everything. This is a lady I don’t know why she disappeared,” he stated.

Background

Days ago, Ghanaians took to social media, particularly Twitter, to compile their list of the greatest Ghanaian gospel musicians of all time. This has had a significant impact on the online space, providing a fresh perspective. Although we are unsure who initiated the conversation, the diverse responses have been captivating.

Our research has revealed that one user posed the question on multiple platforms, resulting in a range of opinions and evoking nostalgia as fans reminisce about the influential careers of their favourite gospel musicians.

Despite having fallen off the radar, certain gospel singers have consistently made the list, including Elder Mireku, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Joe Mettle, Ohemaa Mercy, and others. Notably, contemporary stars like Joyce Blessing and Cecy Twum, as well as artistes who have emerged in the past five to six years, were conspicuously excluded.

Some fans, however, believe that Joe Mettle, who made history as the only gospel artiste to win the prestigious Artiste of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in its over twenty-year existence, would not make the top ten list if compared against the veteran artistes (those who have been in the industry for over twenty-five years).
