Veteran Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has acknowledged that she thought about becoming a prostitute when she was an adolescent.

This assertion was made by the veteran actor during a recent conversation with famed media personality and attorney Chude Jideonwo while recalling a young age.

The seasoned actress claimed that when she was 13 years old, her father died and she became so desperate that she attempted to sell her body. The veteran actress revealed a personal detail about her life that her fans were unaware of, saying,

When they picked me up from school when I was 13 I knew something was awry and prayed that nothing had happened to my dad.

When I got home, I realized my dad was dead, so going through that mental process, I did not know how to react and I did not know how I was feeling, I was just silent, but now that I am older, I think I really understand everything.

There’s nothing anyone says to me that can move me, I’m so confident in who I’m, and I don’t fear anyone. I don’t fear for my life, probably I would’ve become a prostitute today.

I was very desperate to do anything and said I would rather sell my body than for anybody to take my younger brother apart.

Omotola first became interested in acting while going to an audition with a friend. Her debut performance was in Reginald Ebere’s 1995 feature Venom of Justice.

She was given the lead role in the film. In the 1995 movie Mortal Inheritance, she portrayed a sickle-cell patient who battled for her life against slim chances of survival.

This was her first significant acting role. She has since appeared in a number of movies, such as Games Women Play, Blood Sisters, All My Life, Last Wedding, My Story, The Lady in Me, and others.
