A chapter of the highly explosive ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson‘ book authored by Yvonne Nelson which has monopolised the internet space in Ghana and beyond, the actress and filmmaker has shared interesting details about how her famous ‘Dumsor Must Stop’ protest.
Ms Nelson mentioned that while the then opposition leader Nana Akufo Addo called her personally over the phone to predictably congratulate her for leading a demonstration against the incumbency, President John Dramani Mahama on the hand felt jittery and requested to seek an audience with her.
Yvonne said she declined the request, reminding the president, albeit politely that if the meeting won’t include the other frontrunners of the demonstration, (herein the other celebs and personalities who threw their weight behind and galvanised support for the cause) she was not going to honor the invitation.

During the NPP’s rule, Yvonne Nelson has engaged in social media conflict with their party fanatics.
These people are adamant that the actress is connected to the NPP and must thus support the party in elections, but Yvonne Nelson has been silent on political matters this year.
The model who led the #DumsorMustStop vigil against former President Mahama in 2016 has responded to the online criticism of her and NDC Flagbearer Mahama by claiming that Dumsor was fixed.
“I understand you dumb…. let someone clever explain to you my dumsor campaign was for Ghanaians to get their light back on, which President Mahama fixed and nothing else”.
Yvonne Nelson decided to vent her anger as she could not contain those unwarranted attacks on her person from the NPP sympathisers.
