How I Turned ‘Bad Energy’ Into A Fuel For My Career – Wendy Shay Reflects on Her Journey

Ghanaian musician, Wendy Shay has stated that the negative comments she received at the beginning of her career did not affect her because they motivated her to work harder.

Wendy claimed in a TV3 interview that she was unaffected by the criticism. She said that she understood that many people were still grieving over Ebony’s death and angry about her signing with RuffTown Records, and that this accounted for a lot of the criticism and insults she received.

She claims that whatever transpired worked in her favor because, like any up-and-coming artiste, she wanted the attention in entertainment in Ghana.

“Living in a country where I thought racism was a thing, I raised my eyebrows when I got the same treatment from people. But also came at the right time for my career. Everything that I had achieved was pivotal at the time I came into the industry… It is every artiste’s prayer to get attention, and I got the attention, whether good or bad, and given that opportunity, I didn’t play with it. When life throws a lemon at you, you just make lemonades,” she stated.
