Kojo Antwi has announced the passing of his mother, Madam Mary Adwoa Nyamaa, on social media.

She passed away on November 13, 2024, at the Mpraeso General Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and support for her family and community.

In an official statement from Kojo Antwi, he and grieving the family expressed their deep grief: “This loss is felt deeply by the family, and we share this announcement with the general public, the media, the music, culture, and tourism communities, as well as friends and fans worldwide.”

Kojo Antwi, who has been one of the most prominent figures in Ghanaian music for decades, shared his own heartfelt emotions in a personal message.

“My mother was the anchor of our family,” he said. “Her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering faith have guided me all my life.

“This is a painful loss, but I find comfort in knowing that she is at peace. We are grateful for the love and support we have received from the community during this difficult time.”

Kojo has often spoken about the invaluable advice his mother gave him throughout his career. “She always told me to stay true to my music and my roots. She believed in me when no one else did,” Kojo reflected.
