According to a report by Ghanaweb, the Ashanti Region is grappling with a significant shortage of beer, particularly Mini Club beer, as Christmas celebrations fuel an unusual spike in demand.
Reports from 3news.com reveal that bar and pub operators have struggled to stock enough supplies of the popular beverage over the past two months.
The high demand has left many operators frustrated as they face empty shelves and unfulfilled customer expectations.
Local vendors have noted that the shortage is particularly evident in areas known for their bustling nightlife, including Krofrom, Ashanti Bantama, Adum, Maxima, Asafo, Kwadaso, and surrounding communities.
These neighbourhoods, typically hubs of festive activity, have been hit hardest by the unavailability of beer, forcing some operators to turn away customers.
The surge in demand has been attributed to the festive mood of residents and a heightened celebratory atmosphere.
Observers suggest that supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who make up a large portion of the population, have played a significant role in driving up demand as they engage in year-end celebrations.
