John Dumelo has come under fire from entertainment commentator Mr Logic for proposing that President Nana Addo Dakwa Akufo-Addo skip the Independence Day celebration to save the country millions of cedis in the midst of the prevailing economic hardship.

Mr Logic argued that John Dumelo’s remark was political posturing and lacked any real substance while appearing on the United Showbiz program on UTV, hosted by MzGee. Dumelo’s proposal is hypocritical, in Mr Logic’s opinion, and wouldn’t be put forth if his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were in control.

What John Dumelo is saying, will John Dumelo say the same thing if his party came to power? These are some of the things that I don’t like when people try to play politics with a certain national significance.

In contrast to Mr Logic, who questioned whether Dumelo would propose the same thing to a president when his boss Mahama is in power, also remarked that the actor and politician’s posture is a cynical effort to score political points rather than a sincere concern for the country.

He continues by saying that President Mahama if elected as Ghana’s next leader, Dumelo would never advocate for a boycott of the Independence Day commemoration. Mr Logic concluded by saying;

What he said and tagged Nana Addo, I am waiting to see if President John Mahama becomes the next president of Ghana, he will say the same thing to him. I am not sure President Mahama will say that he will boycott the 6th of March. He will never do it because he knows the significance of March 6. Forget about the meaning of independence.
