The family of veteran Hiplife artist Okomfour Kwadee has acknowledged that the rapper is still facing challenges and has not completely overcome his mental health issues.
As per a family representative, Ezekiel Aguyire, they are seeking financial support from the Ghanaian community to cover his medical expenses.
Ezekiel clarified that multiple attempts were made to provide medical care for the musician; however, limited financial resources hindered their ability to access certain medical services.
“He is not feeling well. But now he is a little better. We need the help of Ghanaians for our brother now. He is not supposed to be here but because of the sickness [he had to leave Kumasi],” he said.
Ezekiel made these remarks few days after a video of Kwadee’s performance at an event went viral on the internet.
Kwadee, known for his clever wordplay and captivating storytelling that resonated with the hiplife culture, now appears to be a mere shadow of his former self.
Showcasing his financial struggles and lack of progress in life, the video captures him performing on a dusty village street, looking unkempt.
This sight left many fans and music enthusiasts feeling concerned, with social media users expressing disappointment in Kwadee’s appearance and behaviour.
Ezekiel mentioned in his comment that he was not present at home when Kwadee secretly left to perform, expressing his regret for not being able to stop him from leaving.
“A week ago, he went to do a show, they videoed him and took it to social media. That day I was not around but I came back and heard everything. I did not feel fine about it,” he mentioned.
Ezekiel believes no payment was made for Kwadee’s performance because the programme was organised by a family member who lives in another town.
