Kofi Essel, legal counsel for Daniel Owusu Koranteng, has dismissed claims that his client has been avoiding authorities.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, he defended Koranteng’s presence and activities in Ghana.
“He’s been in this country not just 2025. He’s been doing undercover investigations, and he has published some, shown some on TV and all that, published and even caused people to be arrested and all that—people who are selling very bad unwholesome foods and unwholesome drugs,” Essel stated.
According to him, Koranteng has remained active in investigative journalism, making it implausible that he has been evading contact. “He’s been in this country doing all these undercover investigations.
“So he’s not been on the run. He’s been in the country for years. So if they are saying they’ve been trying to reach him and he doesn’t come and all that, I don’t know where it lies,” he added.
His remarks come in response to suggestions that Koranteng has been unreachable, a claim Essel firmly rejects.
