For some panellists, the partnership with Beyoncé serves as undeniable proof of Shatta Wale’s global recognition. They argued that such a historic achievement transcends any claims that he is merely a “local champion.”
“Beyoncé doesn’t work with just anyone,” one supporter emphasized. “This collaboration put Ghana on the map in a way no other artist has.”
However, entertainment critic Sally Mann took a different stance, questioning the true significance of the collaboration. She argued that despite the hype, the deal came with limitations that restrict Shatta Wale’s freedom to fully capitalize on the song.
“Let’s face it,” she said. “Have you ever seen him perform ‘Already’ live anywhere? He can’t because the rights aren’t his. Even this celebrated collaboration was tightly controlled.”
Her remarks sparked a sharp exchange with the host, a staunch defender of Shatta Wale, who dismissed her criticism as baseless. “No matter what you say, his reputation is untouchable,” the host declared.
