Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah has highlighted the pervasive issue of extreme hardship that has affected all segments of society, including journalists and television presenters.
Amponsah, who shared the post on Facebook and sighted by GhanaStreetJournal, observed that a significant number of television presenters and journalists are deeply involved in gambling.
This involvement, he noted, is reflected in the content they produce and share across their platforms.
He expressed concern over the widespread nature of this behaviour, describing it as alarming.
He then criticized the practice and its modus operandi, which involves sending an amount of money to shortcodes in the hopes of winning huge prizes, which he equates to participating in a lottery.
He posted;
“Sending a Radio/TV station 50 cedis so you can win 2000 cedis nyinaa yɛ lotto. The lotto kiosk is the media now and the lotto agents are your TV and radio favorites. 🌚”
