On February 5, 2025, a delegation from the Klottey Korle Constituency presented a formal petition to the Speaker of Parliament, calling for swift action in response to an offensive remark made against their representative, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, on February 4.
The petition, received by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, has stirred intense discussion in the legislative chambers, as members of the Klottey Korle constituency demand that the matter be addressed urgently.
The controversy erupted during a heated session of Parliament when a voice from the Minority side was heard clearly on the microphone, addressing Dr. Rawlings. The voice called out, “Sit down, you daughter of a murderer.”
The statement, laced with venom, left the floor in a stunned silence. When the comment was questioned, the person defended the offensive remark by claiming that “there is evidence to back the fact that her father is a murderer.”

The insult was directed at Dr. Rawlings, the daughter of Ghana’s late former president, Jerry John Rawlings, who is a polarizing figure in the nation’s political history.
While the comment did not specify any individual, social media users quickly speculated that former Lands and Resources Minister Samuel Abdulai Jinapor might have been the one behind the derogatory remark, based on the timing and context of the exchange.
However, in a statement that followed the incident, Samuel Jinapor strongly denied the accusations, refuting any involvement in making denigrating remarks against the former president.
The Member of Parliament for Damongo has since distanced himself from the attack, which has sparked ongoing debates about respect, decorum, and political rivalry in Ghanaian politics.
