Gospel musician Isaac Kwadwo Ampong, popularly known as Great Ampong, has expressed his willingness to personally apologize to former President John Dramani Mahama. According to the singer, he is ready to go as far as kneeling to seek forgiveness if given the opportunity.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, Ampong acknowledged that his apology song might have already reached Mahama, but he emphasized the importance of a direct, face-to-face reconciliation.
“I know President Mahama would hear my apology song but if there is an opportunity to go to him and ask for forgiveness I would do so,” he stated, as reported by MyNewsGh.com.
However, Ampong admitted that meeting Mahama in person would require a formal approach. “To go to him at the Jubilee House you’ll need someone to lead you before you can be allowed otherwise if you rush there it wouldn’t be a wise thing to do,” he explained.
The gospel musician also drew comparisons to dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, who publicly apologized to Mahama before the 2024 elections. Ampong sees no issue in following a similar path.
“If the Lord permits and there is a chance I won’t find it a problem to render an apology to Mahama one-on-one because Shatta Wale also did the same,” he said.
He further reiterated his readiness to humble himself before Mahama. “Even if it means kneeling down to beg President Mahama I would do it because I won’t be the first person to ask him for forgiveness,” he affirmed.
