At the highly anticipated 2024 edition of Tidal Rave, which took place on Saturday, October 12, Black Sherif not only wowed the crowd with his music but also took a bold stand against one of Ghana’s most pressing environmental issues—galamsey, or illegal mining.
Amidst the electrifying performances, Black Sherif paused during his set to send a powerful message. As he performed, the huge stage screen projected a video showing the devastating effects of galamsey, specifically focusing on the pollution of rivers across Ghana.
The visuals were striking, with murky, polluted water symbolizing the widespread damage caused by these illegal mining activities.
In addition to the polluted rivers, the video featured clips from a recent anti-galamsey protest where concerned Ghanaians marched against environmental destruction.

The imagery was a stark reminder of the toll galamsey continues to take on the country’s natural resources. The video concluded with a moving image of Independence Square and the words “God Bless Ghana,” reinforcing the need for collective action to protect the nation’s future.
Tidal Rave, known for its lively atmosphere and stellar performances, became a platform for a deeper conversation about sustainability and environmental responsibility thanks to Black Sherif.
