Some Ghanaian celebrities have sent messages of condolence and commiserations to ace actor and politician, John Dumelo following the demise of his mother.
Dumelo, who was recently endorsed as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency announced the death of his mother via social media on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
John Dumelo’s mother worked as a customs worker before she retired. The cause of her death is unknown at this time.
The post announcing the departure of the beloved mother of Dumelo reads; “My heart is broken. My dear mother passed away peacefully yesterday….my number one supporter. Heaven has gained an angel.”
His post elicited reactions from some celebrities who expressed sadness over the development and urged him to stay strong as he navigates a difficult time in his life.

This heartbreaking news comes just three days after John Dumelo was officially announced as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wugon constituency.
The party claims this decision was made after “constructive discussions” among party officials. On Sunday, August 13, the party issued a press release stating that the other two candidates who had filed to challenge Mr. Dumelo had agreed to drop aside after discussions with the party leadership.
“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency hereby issues this press statement to officially announce a significant development in our parliamentary candidate selection process for the 2024 general elections.”
“Upon further consultation with the party hierarchy and after engaging in constructive discussions with all the aspirants, we are pleased to inform the General Public that the two other aspirants have graciously accepted to give the nod to Mr. John Dumelo to represent the party.”
“As a result of this harmonious agreement, we proudly endorse and present Mr. John Dumelo as the official NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency for the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary Elections,” parts of the statement reads.
