Ghana currently boasts an electricity access rate of approximately 83%, one of the highest on the African continent. Despite this achievement, President Mahama’s administration remains focused on reaching the remaining underserved areas, ensuring that no Ghanaian is left in the dark.
“At the moment, Ghana has electricity access of about 83%, which is one of the highest on the continent,” Kwakye Ofosu noted.
The discussion around energy access comes at a crucial time, as many African nations continue to struggle with unreliable power supply and limited grid coverage.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, Ghana’s advancements put it ahead of many of its peers, yet there is still work to be done.
“It shows that Ghana is streets ahead of many of its contemporaries, but more needs to be done to ensure that many more of our citizens have access to electricity,” he stated.
