On August 25, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), held a press conference to address inquiries regarding his qualifications for the presidency.

This media engagement aimed to facilitate a dialogue between the candidate and journalists, offering the public a clearer insight into his vision as the December 7 presidential election approaches. Reporters from various media outlets gathered to pose their questions.

Notably, Kwadwo Sheldon, who recently garnered attention for his absence at a National Democratic Congress (NDC) event, was present and directed a question to Bawumia.

The Ghanaian YouTuber inquired about his views on the high cost of data in the country, a pressing issue that has sparked significant concern among internet users.

In response to Sheldon’s query regarding the expensive data rates, Dr Bawumia emphasized that he had addressed the necessity for reducing data prices in his manifesto.

He also highlighted the commencement of Starlink’s operations in the country, expressing optimism that it would foster competition within the telecommunications sector, ultimately leading to lower data costs.

However, despite his response, many critics felt that Bawumia did not adequately address the question and instead provided a vague answer.
