Ghanaians Had Big Expectations, But We Were Let Down – Vickie Bright on Akufo-Addo

Former legal advisor to ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, Vickie Bright, has voiced her disappointment over the governance of the Akufo-Addo administration, stating that it began with high expectations but ended in disillusionment.

Bright recalled the overwhelming goodwill that greeted Akufo-Addo’s presidency, emphasizing how ordinary Ghanaians had faith in his leadership from the onset in an interview on JoyNews.

“I remember when he was elected, the Makola women reduced the prices of goods before he could even do anything because they were just so excited, they thought, hey, they’re going to show us how this is done.”

However, she lamented that by the end of his tenure, things had not lived up to expectations.

“But unfortunately, by the end of it, everything had fallen down like a lead balloon. It’s sad, that’s not what we expected,” she stated.

She further criticized the size of the government, arguing that Ghana, with a population of 32 million, did not need an administration with over 100 ministers.
