Sammy SoSo, producer, songwriter, engineer, and DJ, has been nominated for the BRIT Awards 2024 after “Water,” a song he produced, won the maiden Best African Music Performance award at the Grammys.
The BRITS nod includes International Song Of The Year for Tyla’s “Water,” and Mastercard Album Of The Year for J Hus’ “Beautiful and Brutal Yard.”
Sammy Soso emerged as the creative force behind South African musician Tyla’s Grammy award-winning hit, “Water,” after British Ghanaian producer Juls revealed that he played a crucial role in the composition and recording sessions and served as a source of inspiration for the song.
The revelation about Sammy Soso’s pivotal involvement surfaced in a tweet by Juls on February 4, 2024.
Juls, on X expressed, “By the way, Ghana actually clinched a Grammy tonight! The producer for @Tyllaaaaaaa’s record is Ghanaian! @SammySoSo!! Make sure to show love and respect! He’s been putting in the work and dedication! He’s already Grammy-nominated.”
Who is Sammy Soso?
Sammy Soso is a DJ, record producer, songwriter, and engineer. He embarked on his DJ journey during his teenage years as part of a multi-media enterprise.
In 2016, he showcased his talent by producing the ‘UK Top 15’ single “Transforming” by KSI, signaling the commencement of his successful collaborations with artists such as JME and Wizkid. His contributions to hits like “Pull Up,” “Sweet One,” “Grace,” and more are notable on the album “Made in Lagos.”
Sammy’s creative influence extends to Wizkid’s latest album, “More Love, Less Ego,” where he played a significant role in crafting standout tracks like “Bad To Me,” “Everyday,” and “Flower Pads.”
Additionally, he collaborated with artists like Omah Lay, Young T & Bugsey, and Blxst, further solidifying his impact on the music scene.
