Following the passing of Junior Pope, an outpouring of tributes from the film industry in both Ghana and Nigeria has surfaced on various social media platforms.
Given the strong bonds and long history of collaboration between actors from these two countries, it comes as no surprise that many took to social media to express their condolences and memories of the Pope.
Pope was pronounced dead on Thursday morning, April 11, following a devastating experience in a drowning accident on Wednesday afternoon, along with four individuals in River Niger in Delta State.
The group, including the actor, was on their way back from a film shoot when their boat overturned, tragically resulting in their demise.
John Dumelo, Jackie Appiah, Gloria Sarfo, Eddie Watson and others have taken to social media to express their sorrow over Junior Pope’s death.
Eddie Watson wrote:
I wanted this so much to be a lie. You were too cool, dude. From the very few times we spent together working, I know how much you loved your wife and kids; how proud you were of your family.
You talked about them all the time and proudly. You were always JOLLY.
I pray for comfort for your family and for the families of all the others who lost their lives in the accident. This is crazy! “Who does that”? Only you, JP. Rest well!
Jackie Appiah also said:
RIP @jnrpope and to the crew members. This is really sad. May we not die in pursuit of our daily bread.
