In a recent interview with media personality MzGee, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the wife of Ghanaian musician Keche Andrew and a parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, opened up about how she met her husband and the challenges they’ve faced in their relationship.
Joana started by recalling how, when they first met, she was cautious about getting involved due to the rumours she had heard about Keche Andrew’s personal life.
“I didn’t know much about his personal life, and based on what I was hearing at the time, I wanted to be sure he was serious and loved me for who I am,” she explained.

To test his commitment, Joana often used public transport to visit him, making sure to keep him on his toes. “That’s why I often used taxis or trotro to visit him. When I arrived, I would call him to come pick me up and even ask him to pay for the fare.”
Although this approach may have seemed unusual to some, it was a way for Joana to ensure that Keche Andrew wasn’t just interested in her for superficial reasons. However, she admitted that this behaviour led to some tension.
“At one point, he got frustrated because sometimes I didn’t inform him about the public transport I was using, and all I would do is ask for money for the fare. He would complain about why I didn’t tell him beforehand, but through it all, he showed me that he really loved me,” Joana said.
One of the biggest surprises came when Joana discovered that Keche Andrew had known her true identity all along. Joana recalled a moment that left her stunned. “Keche Joshua knew my real identity all along, but he didn’t tell me.
One day, I was invited to her office, and when I got there, I told the receptionist I was looking for Joana Gyan. After sitting in the waiting area, I was taken aback when I finally saw her. I was in shock for an hour or two.”
Their relationship, despite its rocky start, flourished over time. Trust and communication became central to their bond, especially when faced with external pressures. “There was a time when I was receiving calls from girls and other people threatening me, even spreading rumours about me to Joana,” Andrew revealed.

“Sometimes, I would take her phone and chat with them directly. Even some of my fellow musicians and media personalities were involved.”
Despite the challenges, Joana remained resolute in her commitment to Andrew. She recounted a moment that defined their relationship: “I remember one night I had an open conversation with her, telling her all my secrets, everything I’d done, and what I planned to do. After that, I told her to choose: stay with me or leave. But all she did was cry, and the next morning, she gave me a chance. And here we are,” Andrew shared.
Their relationship has since become a testament to resilience, mutual respect, and unwavering trust. Joana emphasized that trust was a cornerstone of their marriage, even in the face of adversity.
“We’ve been through a lot, but we’ve always communicated and chosen to trust each other,” she said.
