Nollywood actresses Omowunmi Dada and Jemima Osunde have opened up about their frightening experiences with sepsis while working on film projects, shedding light on the harsh realities faced by actors in the industry.
Omowunmi Dada shared a harrowing account of contracting sepsis while working on a movie set in Oyo town.
She recalled, “My dear… I got sepsis on a project in Oyo, they literally left me in the hotel. Thank God my family and management got a car to take me to a hospital in Ibadan.
I got there unconscious. It was SEPSIS, and I was lucky to be alive.” Despite her critical condition, Dada was shocked by the production’s response. “Funny thing, production asked for a full refund. Hmm…”

This revelation came on the heels of Jemima Osunde’s own experience, where she contracted sepsis as well. She took to social media, expressing her gratitude for surviving the ordeal. “OMG!!! Sepsis??
“Thank God for your life, Sis! THANK GOD! Sameeee! I got myself to Lagos and to the hospital. Paid for my treatment myself.
“They were sending me messages about a refund. By the time my team sent a response with all the clauses they had breached in the contract, they went quiet. Talking about a refund when you haven’t even asked if I’ve recovered.”
Both actresses emphasized the lack of empathy and responsibility from the production teams in these cases.
They were left to deal with life-threatening health issues without proper support or care, with the focus instead placed on financial reimbursements.
