Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred controversy online following his announcement of an intention to run for the governorship of Anambra State.
The actor, who has been a polarizing figure in recent times due to personal and professional controversies, made the declaration in a celebratory Instagram post while attending Prophet Odumeje’s birthday party with his second wife, Judy Austin.
“Arrival of the future Governor and First Lady of Anambra State, Yul Edochie & Judy Austin @judyaustin1 at Prophet Odumeje’s birthday,” he captioned a video featuring the couple in high spirits as they joined the clergyman’s celebration.
While Edochie’s confidence drew praise from some fans who lauded his political aspirations, the backlash was swift and pronounced.
Critics took to the comment section, accusing him of using his political ambition to divert attention from his personal controversies, particularly his decision to marry a second wife—a move that strained his relationship with his first wife, May Edochie, and their family.
In reaction to the actor’s recent declaration, One @bliss_onyx wrote: “This Judy no get levels at all ooo see slippers wey she wear 😂😂😂 madam if you wan pepper person do am with class abeg, wetin happen?”

You can take someone out of the village, but you can never take the village out of someone. But i don’t blame her, because its difficult to groom and brush an adult. She would need 100 buckets of river water so that she can stop being awkward in crowded places. 😂😂😂😂.”
