According to MyJoyOnline report, a fire outbreak has reduced a four-bedroom wooden structure to ashes at Manukrom in the Akontombra District of the Western North Region.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, March 11, left two tenants homeless, destroying all their belongings.
One of the affected individuals, Christopher Gyapong, the headteacher of Manukrom D/A Basic School, recounted receiving the heartbreaking news while teaching. He rushed home, only to find his possessions consumed by flames.
“I have lost everything except what I wore to class, and this is a sad moment for me,” he lamented, suggesting that frequent power fluctuations in the area might have triggered the fire.
The Assembly Member for Kramokrom Electoral Area, Nicholas Akwaleno, expressed deep concern over the incident and called on the government, through the District Assembly, to provide relief to the victims.
He also emphasized the urgent need for better housing for teachers, noting that decent accommodation would boost morale and contribute to improved academic performance in the community.
