President John Dramani Mahama has directed Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to take urgent measures to address a $156 million funding gap caused by the suspension of USAID’s international funding program.
Expressing concern over the financial shortfall, Mahama highlighted its potential impact on critical sectors, stating, “The projected $78.2 million shortfall will adversely impact malaria prevention, maternal and child health, family planning, reproductive health, nutrition, and the fight against HIV/AIDS.”

He further emphasized the need for immediate action, directing that “bridging arrangements focus on these priority areas to mitigate any deleterious effects caused by the funding disruption.”
The statement, signed by Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding essential health programs.
