The final funeral rites for Ghanaian actor and content creator Stephen Sasu Gyan, better known by his stage name Akwasi Kardashian, have been set for this weekend.
His passing, just weeks ago, followed a heartbreaking struggle with kidney failure, leaving an irreplaceable void in the entertainment industry.
Akwasi Kardashian’s health battle first came to light when Ghanaian blogger Sammy Kay Media shared the details of his illness and called on the public for support.
During an interview with Sammy Kay, Akwasi opened up about the symptoms that led to his diagnosis.
“It started with coughing and vomiting, and then my legs unexpectedly swelled up,” he explained.
“After several hospital visits and tests, I was told I had kidney failure. The doctors estimated the treatment would cost GHC700,000. I didn’t know where to begin to gather such an amount.”
Despite efforts to raise the needed funds, the cheerful entertainer could not access the treatment that might have saved his life.
Tragically, he passed away at the age of 36, leaving behind a legacy of joy and laughter that endeared him to many.
