Fat Joe, the boss of Terror Squad, has clarified the true meaning behind one of his well-known nicknames, which was previously thought to be intimidating.
In a recent tweet on Monday (November 27), he shed light on the origin of “Joey Crack,” a moniker that has been associated with him for many years. He posted:
“They call me Joey crack cause the crack of my ass show whenever I stand up girls in my hood gave me the name [laughing emoji] it was never because the drug crack God is great,” he admitted in the social media post.
As expected, social media was inundated with comments from hip-hop enthusiasts in response to Joe’s confession. The general consensus among fans and followers was that the above post was too much information, with one person commenting: “Batman couldn’t have got this info out of me. on god you should have keep that one to yourself gang,” while another wrote: “I love you and you’re a legend but I woulda took this to the grave.”
A handful, however, were impressed with the transparency, with one user saying, “Growing up off 90’s hip-hop, I never knew that. That’s actually some real shit to even admit.”

Fat Joe’s real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena. He is an American rapper from New York City. He began his music career as a member of the hip-hop group Diggin’ in the Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.) in 1992; he then embarked on a solo career a year later with his debut album Represent (1993).
Cartegena formed the hip-hop group Terror Squad and its namesake record label in the late 1990s, through which he would discover and sign fellow New York artists including Big Pun, Remy Ma, Tony Sunshine, and Cuban Link, as well as then-unknown producers DJ Khaled and Cool & Dre.
