Family of Late Akua Donkor Announces Date for Final Funeral Rites

The family of the late Akua Donkor has officially announced the date for her final funeral rites following her passing on October 28, 2024.

Akua Donkor, the founder and flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), was a trailblazer in Ghanaian politics.

Despite lacking formal education, she fearlessly contested for the highest office in the country, making history as one of the few women to lead a political party.

Her outspoken nature, unconventional campaign strategies, and grassroots appeal made her a recognizable figure in Ghana’s political landscape.

Born into a farming family, Akua Donkor worked as a cocoa farmer before venturing into politics. She built a strong following among rural communities and was known for advocating for farmers’ welfare and economic policies aimed at uplifting the underprivileged.

Although she never won a presidential election, her presence on the ballot symbolized inclusivity and the idea that leadership was not limited to the elite.

Later in the day, the final funeral rites will take place at Ejuratia from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

On Sunday, 30th March 2025, a Thanksgiving Service will be held at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Ejuratia from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, after which the final funeral gathering will continue at Ejuratia from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
