The film Everything, Everywhere, At Once won several awards at the 95th Academy Awards. After earlier wins by Michelle Yeoh the Best Actress award, Ke Huy Quan for Best Supporting Actor, Jamie Lee Curtis for Best Supporting Actress, the Daniels for Best Director, and the Daniels for Best Editing.

The highly praised fiction film took home the top honour at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday. The film won seven Oscars in all, making it the most awarded Best Picture winner since 2008’s Slumdog Millionaire.

Everything, Everywhere, At Once has won several awards, including Critics’ Choice Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Directors Guild Awards, and Writers Guild Awards. It also received 11 Oscar nominations, making it the year’s most-nominated film.

The cast used the opportunity to honour James Hong, their co-star and friend, for his impressive career as an Asian actor at the SAG Awards. Kimmel also briefly acknowledged Hong during the Academy Awards on Sunday.

The movie is presently the most-awarded film of all time and the first film in more than three decades to win three acting Academy Awards.

Michelle Yeoh is the second woman of colour to win the Oscar for best actress, following Halle Berry’s 2002 victory. The film’s supporting actor, Ke Huy Quan, was awarded the best actor prize, beating out Barry Keoghan and Judd Hirsch for the award. It was the first year in which more than one Asian actor won an Oscar.

The costume designer for the Marvel blockbuster Black Panther, Ruth E. Carter, made history by becoming the first African-American  woman to win two Oscars. With her work on “Black Panther,” Carter became the first person of African descent to win an Academy Award in the costume design category in 2019.

All Quiet on the Western Front, a German war epic on Netflix, won four awards. They were for an international feature film, an original score, production design, and cinematography. It was the first time since The Lives of Others in 2006 that Germany won the award for best international feature film.
