Brother Sammy has expressed disapproval towards the traditionalism of contemporary Christians and their approach to evangelism.
The acclaimed vocalist highlighted that Christians’ methods of converting non-believers, which sometimes involve rigid beliefs about non-Christians, pose a significant issue.
Brother Sammy pointed out that even the devil has adapted his tactics to attract individuals to his side, while Christians remain stagnant in their outdated soul-winning strategies.
“I don’t look at people and say they are non-believers, so I won’t work with them. I see them as people. That’s all,” he said on TV3.
Brother Sammy further disclosed that numerous churches have refused to allow him to perform at their premises, prompting him to concentrate on other venues.
“If a drinking spot or a nightclub invites me to perform, I will go. If any secular artiste invites me, I will go. I take the opportunity to spread the word anywhere,” he explained.
He explained that nightclubs and drinking spots are prime locations for evangelism, as they attract individuals who may not usually attend church.
“If I go to church, I know that everyone there is there to listen to the gospel. But those at the nightclubs are not there for such; that is where I go to win souls,” he said.
Criticising other Christians for their traditional methods, Broda Sammy questioned why Christians can preach in markets but not in nightclubs and stated that there should be a change in the strategy of how the gospel is shared.
“They don’t know how to win souls, pastors can go to markets to preach, so why can’t they go to drinking spots or nightclubs?
“Even the devil has changed his strategy, why can’t we change our strategy? The clubs where people are going to sin should be the places we should go and conduct praises and worship,” he said.
