As reported earlier by GhanaStreetJournal, Esther Smith has landed in Ghana in preparation for her major concerts set to take place in Kumasi and Accra later this year.
In an interview with Joy Prime, a thrilled Esther Smith shared with reporters that many of her popular songs were penned by her late mother.
She revealed that her mother possessed musical talent and, upon realizing Esther’s own potential in music, provided her with unwavering support.
“My mother wrote ‘Adze Ko.’ She is also a singer, just like myself. My mother lived with Fantes and was a member of the Methodist Choir. She realized I had the gift, so she provided me with the needed support.
“What happened was that I had my songs already written, but when I wanted to come out, she told me to take that song and try it. When I came out with it, it worked perfectly too,” she said.
“My other hit song, ‘Nipa,’ was also written by my mother’s mother. She is currently not alive,” she added.
Smith’s concerts are slated for August 25, 2024, at the Bantama Pentecost Church, in Kumasi after which she will move to Accra for a second event slated for August 30 at the Perez Dome.
The two events are expected to celebrate Esther Smith for her remarkable feats in the music industry and also usher her in after several years of hiatus.
