Esther Smith was asked about her connection to Ebenezer Smith, widely recognized as Chef Smith, during an interview on Okay.
The veteran gospel artist, who just landed in Ghana less than a day ago to perform at a major concert in Accra and Kumasi, clarified that she does not have any relationship with the well-known Ghanaian chef.
“My father is the one called Smith, who is from Cape Coast. My mother is from Akomadan. I’m an Ashanti because of my mother.
On whether she has any close family relations with Chef Smith, replied, “Please, I’m not related to Chef Smith in any way. I don’t know him from Adam.”
On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith made headlines by holding a press conference where he proudly declared that he had achieved the title of the longest individual cooking marathon per Guinness World Records (GWR) guidelines.
During the event, he displayed a plaque that he asserted was sent by the record scheme’s organizers, providing evidence to support his assertion.
Nevertheless, there were doubts raised about the authenticity of his claim due to the absence of any official announcement on the GWR website.
Many Ghanaians contended that since GWR had not officially recognized this accomplishment on their platform, Chef Smith’s assertion may be unfounded.
Amidst the uproar caused by this claim, TV3 Ghana, a subsidiary of Media General, reached out to GWR to verify Chef Smith’s statement.
In a message sent directly to TV3 through X, GWR confirmed that the current record holder for the longest individual cooking session is still Alan Fisher from Ireland.
GWR clarified that Chef Smith does not possess the title of the longest cooking marathon and has not been granted any official certificate.
