Ghanaian rapper Eno Barony has shared a personal experience about her father’s disapproval of her rap skills and appearance on television.

She said at the age of 15, she faced severe beatings from her father due to her involvement in rap, which conflicted with their strict religious background as her father was a pastor.

Her father had expected her to join the church choir and make him proud, but she chose a different path.

Barony, often considered the biggest female rapper in Africa said despite her father’s disapproval, she participated in a rap competition, and her performance was broadcast on TV, earning admiration from her mother and siblings.

However, she held that her father remained unimpressed and punished her for breaking the house rules.

“It was a Saturday morning, so, at 5 pm, he sat and watched me perform. After that, I was reprimanded because I was a reverend minister’s daughter and I went to do rap music wearing a short skirt,” she was interviewed on The Chat on Citi TV.

But now, Eno said her father has accepted her craft and is very proud of her celebrity status.

“My dad will still tell you Jesus is the only celebrity I know” she added.
